  1. Symptoms of anorexia

The main symptom of anorexia is where the individual is losing a lot of weight on purpose. this could be done by different ways such as eating as little as possible so deliberately starving themselves, over exercising this is where they will exercise to a point where they have burned more than the amount of calories they have had in that day. another symptom of anorexia is where the individual has a fear of gaining weight/becoming fat so they will do things to prevent this (i.e. not eating). Another symptom would be where the sufferer has a distorted image of what they really look like so they will think that they look fat but in reality they are abnormally thin. Another symptom that would be present in girls would be the where they have missed 3 consecutive periods this is known as amenorrhea. Finally one other symptom of anorexia is where the sufferer weighs less than 85% less than what their body weight should be

    Features of anorexia

There are different features of anorexia, things such as the fact it is rarely seen in puberty. Also 60% of people who have had anorexia will gain weight and then relapse. Out of the people that get anorexia 10% of them will die either of starvation of suicide. A massive percentage of 90% of anorexia occurs in females between the ages of 13-18.
The main symptom of anorexia is losing a lot of weight deliberately.
    For example, by:
    • eating as little as possible
    • making yourself vomit
    • over-exercising – burning more calories than you consume in a day
